Spelthorne Borough Council - Commercial waste service

Part of our strategy for the coming years is to lower the carbon footprint of the Borough as a whole. This means lowering emissions, increasing recycling, reducing the amount going to landfill, creating and utilising more green energy and generally taking responsibility for our impact on the environment. The collection, management and disposal of waste has a major impact on our carbon footprint which is why we are focusing on setting up a commercial waste collection service.

Like most UK councils, we have been responsible for collecting and disposing of domestic waste in the Borough for over 100 years and are therefore perfectly placed to expand our collection service to include business waste and recycling. As the Borough council we work with the local business community on a daily basis and can meet/react to their refuse problems quickly and efficiently. With our depot being based in the heart of the Borough it means that our refuse vehicles don't have far to travel to our customers and as such have minimal impact on the environment, opposed to companies that are based further afield. Part of being environmentally friendly is being able to provide local solutions to local problems!

However, before launching this service we need to fully understand and meet the waste collection needs of our business community, which is why we are inviting any local companies to complete our Spelthorne Commercial Waste Survey.
