Spelthorne helps secure conviction

A youth has been convicted of criminal damage

A youth, who cannot be named, has been given a 12 month Community Order with 60 hours unpaid work.

The damage related to CCTV cameras that had been installed in Manor Park Car Park in Shepperton following reports of antisocial behaviour last summer. One of the cameras was removed and another damaged beyond repair. The youth responsible was identified by police and the case was heard at Guildford Magistrates Court on 7 February, with a Council Officer giving evidence.

Councillor Nick Gething, Cabinet Member for Environment and Compliance, said: "I am very pleased we have been able to help secure this conviction. This demonstrates the effectiveness of the Council's Joint Enforcement team which was set up work closely with other agencies such as the police to tackle this kind of antisocial behaviour".
