Since 2017, Brexit has been one of the corporate risks that are kept under regular review via our Corporate Risk Register.
Many local government services, including those that are provided by districts and boroughs, are affected by EU rules and regulations. These include waste management, employment, environmental standards and procurement. The Withdrawal Act 2018 ensures that those EU laws that underpin key services on exit day would continue to apply through UK law, even under 'no deal'.
Specifically, we have identified that a relatively small proportion of our workforce are EU nationals, and are not exposed to funding risks because we are not recipients of EU funding.
In the meantime, given the uncertainty, we are keeping a watching brief on developments and in doing so will be looking to reduce risks and of course maximise opportunities as they arise.
