Feb 2020 - The Court of Appeal has told the Government to either draw up a whole new policy document (Airports National Policy Statement - ANPS) or amend the current ANPS to make it compatible with the UK's commitments to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Heathrow responded by saying it would appeal to the Supreme Court, but the government says it would not appeal.
April 2020 - More recently Heathrow has said that their expansion plans will be pushed back by at least two years due to the disruption caused by Coronavirus.
May 2020 - The Supreme Court has granted Heathrow Airport permission to appeal contrary to a block on its plans for a third runway.
**The indicative period for the construction phase which includes the enabling works for site preparation is 2011- 2024 and the airfield expansion including the runway and taxiways works is 2024 - 2026
**The operational phase includes operational commencement of the third runway from 2026 onwards and delivery of the campus development including construction of the new terminals and satellite buildings is from 2023 to 2035.
